Traditional Art: Hmong Storytelling Project
The Hmong Storytelling Project
is a 2006 pilot initiative but was completed in 2007. This project
pairs a young artist with an elder artist to document the work of the
elder artist while the younger artist learns traditional art. We
partnered with the Hmong Cultural Center to videotape and audio record
4 funeral songs.
The songs were
later scored by a young Hmong composer. The videos and musical scores
will be made available for public use through the HAIL website, other
repositories and our partners. This project was funded by the MN State
Arts Board through an appropriation from the State Legislature.
